1. What do I need to file with Supreme Judicial Court for The County of Suffolk to practice as a Foreign Practitioner?

You must file the following:

1. A statement from a representative of the organization that you are associated with.

2. A certificate(s) of admission and good standing from the jurisdiction(s) you are a member of.

2. How long is the process to become a Foreign Practitioner?

Your status as a Foreign Practitioner becomes effective upon filing the requisite materials with this office.

3. When will I receive my Foreign Practitioners Registration Number?

Within two weeks of filing the information with this Court, your information will be sent to the Board of Bar Overseers. The Board of Bar Overseers will send you your required registration materials.

4. How long am I able to engage in practice as a Foreign Practitioner?

In no event shall an attorney engage in practice under this rule for more than two years. See Paragraph (2) of SJC Rule 3:04.
