Filing Instructions

WHAT DOCUMENTS MUST I FILE WITH THE SUPREME JUDICIAL COURT

Any person desiring admission to the Massachusetts Bar is required to file with the Clerk of Supreme Judicial Court for The County of Suffolk:

  1. Petition Cover Sheet;

  2. Petition for Admission requiring your original signature AND an original signature of a recommending attorney ;

  3. Statement to the Board of Bar Examiners requiring your original signature;

  4. Authorization Form requiring your original signature;

  5. Law School Certificate completed by your graduating law school
    (See Important Dates regarding Law School Certificate filing deadlines);

  6. Multistate Professional Responsibility Score Report (official or unofficial) showing a scaled score of 85 or greater (See MPRE Information);

  7. Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
    (See Information for Letters of Recommendation);

  8. Certificate of Admission and Good Standing, if applicable, from each
    jursidiction in which you have been admitted to practice law.

  9. Filing Fee in the form of a Money Order or Bank Check payable to the
    Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the amount of $815.00. No Personal Checks will be accepted. All filing fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.


NOTE: Incomplete Applications for Admission will NOT BE ACCEPTED for filing by the Clerk's Office!
