1. What do I need a Certificate of Admission and Good Standing for?

1. As proof of admission for another jurisdiction.
2. At the request of a potential employer.
3. To obtain a real estate broker's license.
4. To form a limited liability partnership.


2. What is the fee for a Certificate of Admission and Good Standing?
The fee is a $15.00
check made payable to Clerk Maura S. Doyle.


3. Do the requirements vary in other jurisdictions?
Yes. In Connecticut and Florida a copy of your bar application is required along with your Certificate. The cost for a certified bar application ($10.00) and a Certificate ($15.00) is $25.00. See Copy of Massachusetts Bar Application.

4. May I fax my completed affidavit to the SJC?
No. An original signature is required.

5. What if I realize I actually needed two Certificates, and not the one I had originally requested?
If the 30 days has not expired, an additional Certificate may be obtained upon receipt of an additional $15.00 fee; otherwise, if the 30 days has expired it will be necessary for you to repeat the process.


6. If a deadline is fast approaching, may I pick up the Certificate at the SJC?
If your application with the fee has been processed and the Certificate of Admission and Good Standing has been generated, you may pick up the Certificate. To determine if your Certificate has been generated call 617-557-1050. You may pick up the Certificate any time between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m
